Andy French
BEng (Hons) IEng MICE
Associate
Andy is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has over 15 years of post-graduate experience as a professional civil engineer. He worked in consultancy in both large and small Civil Engineering and multidisciplinary engineering firms and has experience as an Employer, Project Manager and Approving Authority within Local Authority.
Andy has a broad experience in civil engineering, including highways and external works, earthworks and levels, drainage and flood risk, transport planning and utility services. He has a particular specialism within Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) including the more complex and modern multifunctional solutions and 'blue-green infrastructure'.
He is passionate about early involvement in construction projects to work with the Architect to establish constraints, to inform the layout and guide the design to add value early in the process, tackle intricate technical designs, and solve problems for highly constrained sites.
Outside of consultancy, Andy is keenly interested in sustainable building and has helped build structural strawbale and timber-framed low-impact buildings in his spare time. Using his practical forestry and traditional green woodworking skills, he can now build an entire building from standing timber to a finished product, if a little rustic, and enjoys time in his woodland.
