Having been a structural design engineer for more than 20 years, Joanne mainly leads and delivers domestic projects at Matter. She enjoys thinking about details to help solve problems and provide bespoke solutions for challenging briefs with unique requirements.
Joanne has worked for public and private clients on a broad range of residential projects. These include converting existing buildings to flats, building new multi-storey apartments, developing custom housing and designing extensions and basements.
In education, Joanne has overseen constructing new schools and children’s centres, and refurbishing educational buildings. She has also worked with the City of London on restoring and upgrading listed buildings, and on erecting large office premises.
Before joining Matter, Joanne held positions at large engineering consultancies, including Conisbee and Whitbybird (now Ramboll), before becoming a freelance structural engineer.
She is a member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
