Tapiwa Gavaza

With over 20 years’ experience in civil engineering and infrastructure design, Tapiwa has been the lead design engineer on many award-winning projects. He has shown that sustainable engineering design can result in elegant, efficient and cost-effective solutions that benefit the environment.

At Matter, Tapiwa leads design projects for below-ground drainage. He is passionate about incorporating sustainability, embracing the natural environment and developing zero-carbon housing, as well as unlocking challenging, constrained sites that have defeated other engineers.

His career includes positions at respected engineering firms such as Mouchel (now WSP), RSK, Langan and Conisbee.

Tapiwa chairs the Honorary Fellows Panel of the Society for the Environment (SocEnv). He is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA).
